Hi Larah:
I really want to thank you for the 3 hours you worked with us and tell you that Sophie made a major breakthrough this weekend-she walked on a leash all by herself! We followed your advice against taking her to daycare on Friday and went ahead with their grooming appt. on Saturday. They said Sophie was perfect! When I picked her up I took her outside in a busy parking lot and put a leash on her and took a couple of steps and she walked! We walked all around the strip mall and that night went for a walk and again last night. I'm walking her every night with or without Georgia. She is doing much better with people too. We had 8 people and 4 dogs in the house yesterday and she even let my niece pet her and scratch her for a few minutes.
Thank you so very much for all the pointers you gave us and the guidance. Just hearing from someone who knows that Sophie wasn't hopeless and there are much worse cases out there gave me a lot of hope to stick with it.
Thanks again. Wishing you all the best with your doggie endeavors!
-Christy, Mike, Georgia & Sophie

I first met Larah in Feb. 2007 at puppy training class. I was a first time dog owner with a 5 month old puppy, so I was in need of help. Larah taught the class and helped answer all my questions and ease my worries. She helped train my puppy and me! She was always able to get the puppies to do what she was teaching them to do. Her methods and knowledge of training were very effective. Her confident manner and calm nature was great for the dogs and owners. Larah also watched our puppy when we went away for a few days. We had total confidence in her and felt our puppy was in good hands with Larah. Coco, our puppy, is always happy with her. Larah is a gem to know and anyone should feel comfortable with her training, grooming or caring for their dog. She is our "dog whisperer". Sincerely, Ellen Poveromo

My husband and I have had the “privilege and blessing” of having Larah take care of our Cassie’s grooming needs for about a year now. Our previous groomer had left to go back to school to start another career. It was her that referred us to Larah. Our dog is a female Coton de Tulear and is 7 years old. She also cuts my cat’s nails for me which saves me a trip to the pet store to get them done. I can remember back to the days when I used to take my dog out to be groomed. It was such a traumatic experience for her, and also for me. More than a couple of times I was told that I needed to pre-medicate my dog to calm her before she came in for her appointment. Once she was even given back to me only half groomed and I was told they would finish the rest of her after I went to the vet and got some calming meds.
It is totally different experience for Cassie being groomed in her own home. She is so much calmer not having to listen to all the other dogs crying & barking while she waits her turn in a non-familiar setting. And I have never had to put her anymore on calming meds. My dog tends to be anxious and high-strung. But Larah is very gentle, patient, and sensitive to her personality. She gives Cassie many little breaks during her grooming sessions where she’ll talk sweet to her and give her kisses. Her reassuring and calming tone of voice always seems to relax Cassie and makes her feel comfortable & safe.
I have never been disappointed with a haircut that Larah has given my dog. (I wish I could say the same for my own haircuts). Lara is a perfectionist, and her haircuts seem to reflect my dog’s personality. She never looks less than ADORABLE. Cassie seems to really enjoy and take in all the complements she gets after being cut. She runs around the room so excited and happy after being groomed. I think she really feels more comfortable & playful when her hair is shorter. Larah is punctual, pleasant, easy going, kind-hearted and very knowledgable in so many areas concerning animals. She is a real animal lover.
I would highly recommend her to anyone who would prefer to have their animal groomed in the comfort of their own home.
Sincerely,
Mary & Chance Parker
(& kisses from Cassie)

Thanks again for doing such a wonderful job grooming my “kids”! They look and smell great! I especially can’t get over how sleek Shiraz looks, it was just what I was looking for. And the dogs loved the Pumpkin pops and didn’t seem to mind the bandanas – a great touch. Thanks again, Jai

We have known and worked with Larah over three years. Both of our cocker spaniels, Ben and Sweet, are “rescues” from North Carolina, and were in need of exceptionally gentle handling. Larah has been that “exceptional” groomer for us. Gentle words and touches together with attention to each aspect of ears, coat and skin has enabled us to partner with Larah on providing the best care for these two dogs. Their health and coats have improved during this time, and due to Larah’s skillful handling from day one, both dogs behave well during grooming sessions. Due to “stressful” encounters with groomers in the past, our family followed Larah throughout her professional development and now has the wonderful opportunity of having them groomed “at home”. Grooming events with Larah have been so positive that instead of hiding when she arrives, Ben and Sweet leap into her arms to deliver kisses. I would not hesitate to recommend Larah and have already done so. I don’t think groomers come any better! Catherine Smith

When I have to leave my beloved cat, Forest, I am confident that he will have responsible, loving care with Larah. Larah goes out of her way to make my cat feel happy and calm when I am away. She plays with him and makes sure he is safe and comfortable. Larah Luft has remarkable knowledge, experience and common sense and is a great find for any one who needs expert pet care!

Hi Larah
They are doing great. Logan took VERY well to training, he is doing great off leash, especially up at our lake house. Luke is still slightly handicapped but has adjusted to using 3 legs very well. They get along wonderfully. Logan is actually very patient with Luke, they can eat at the same time now with bowls right next to each other. There has been no fighting since that first episode on day2. They play with each other very well and share toys/bones all the time. Thanks again for your help with their training.

Kristin and I want to thank you for taking such great care of Bodie. Although we struggle every time we have to have to leave him behind, we rest a little easier knowing that he is having the time of his life at The Royal Dog. The pictures and email updates that you send while we’re away almost make being away from Bodie bearable. However, it was not until we picked him up, after his first time away from home, that we truly realized how much he really enjoyed being at your home. After dragging him, kicking and barking, back to our car, we jokingly asked him about his week away. He answered with a sigh, letting us know that he was already asleep. He slept throughout the ride home and had to be carried into our house when we got home. A wagging tail never lies.
Thank you for taking care of an important member of our family.
Love, Mike, Kristin, Bodie (and the cats too)
